This liqueur, created in 1835, is obtained by distillation, maceration and infusion of more than 50 plants, flowers and spices. The Comtat oregano was administered to the patients of the cholera epidemic that affected the Vaucluse in 1882. In gratitude, the city of Avignon had made 3 ceramics of 2 x 1.5 m, which remained in exhibition for more than 3 decades on the ramparts, at the main entrances of the city of the Popes. Comtat® oregano is aged in oak barrels. Comtat® oregano is the basis of a delicious Avignon confectionery: the Avignon® papaline with Comtat® oregano.
